Sociedad Nacional de Gas de Guinea Ecuatorial has recently faced a swindle attempt by Mr. Ainsley Gill a US citizen.
This happened three years ago when Mr. Ainsley arrived in Equatorial Guinea along with other business men from Trinidad and Tobago. When SONAGAS G.E. launched an announcement to hire legal consultant services, Mr. Ainsley participated in the bid on behalf of AGA in which he became the winner. A contract was signed as a result of this victory. After few months of performance it was noticed that invoices from Mr. Ainsley were beyond contractual limits, due to this fact such invoices were rejected and Mr. Ainsley was being advised to comply with the contract. All invoices or refunds submitted properly were paid, thus Mr. Ainsley received more than for hundred thousand (US$ 400,000). However giving the persistence of Mr. Ainsley in obtaining any amount of money unfairly SONAGAS G.E. decided to cease his services. Despite of that, still Mr. Ainsley is using different means claiming amounts between one million five hundred (US$ 1.500, 000) to two million (US$ 2.000, 000). Upon this continuous persistence, we came to a conclusion to have a mediator travelled to Malabo, Mr. Lorin the Lawyer. Mr. Lorin visited Malabo in two occasions and he was provided with all relevant information in which they carry out a joint analysis of Mr. Ainsley invoices with representatives from SONAGAS G.E. after this analysis they wrap up that Mr. Ainsley rightful invoicing was for a value of seventy thousand (US$70.000).
As a matter of fact, according to the contract the company agreed to warrant a standard room for Mr. Ainsley during his visit to render services; however, Mr. Ainsley was lodging in a suit room and thereafter claiming to be refunded. On the other hand, during a business visit to Malabo, Mr. Ainsley was informed about the need of SONAGAS G.E. to draft a Gas Master Plan, in his next visit he brought along some brochures asking SONAGAS G.E. to pay one million (US$1.000,000). Because this offer was rejected he suggested to be paid five hundred thousand (US$500,000), which are currently included in the amount being claimed by Mr. Ainsley. There was not previous agreement to prepare a gas master plan, no reference terms were provided. Giving this fact, the professionalism of Mr. Ainsley started raising concerns and we have had confirmation that this Gentleman has no degree as a Lawyer. We regret the fact that Mr. Ainsley approached SONAGAS G.E. as a Legal professional, we also regret that Mr. Ainsley is now trying to denigrate the image of SONAGAS G.E. as a default company toward institutions and international community (US Senate, South African Members of the Congress), despite his intention to take advantage of any distraction of SONAGAS G.E. in order to benefit from amounts he has no right to receive.
From SONAGAS G.E. we call upon everyone that we remain available to welcome those who are coming to do business in an honest and serious manner, however for those coming with a swindle idea will never be welcome.
SONAGAS G.E. reserves all rights to take legal procedures against Mr. Ainsley for an attempt to swindle, usurpation of duties, denigration of SONAGAS G.E. image.
