Biography
Jacinto Nguema Owono Martinez currently serves as First Deputy General Manager of Sonagas Equatorial Guinea, with over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He holds a Master's degree in Oil and Gas Management, and a double Bachelor's degree in Finance and Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting from La Roche University.
He began his career in the oil and gas sector with Hess Corporation, where he held a variety of roles including Drilling Data Analyst, Data Management Supervisor, Office Manager, Government Relations Advisor, and Human Resources Manager in Guinea and Ghana. In his last role at Hess Corporation, he managed overall HR operations and a team of HR professionals, both expatriates and locally employed, to support onshore and offshore oil and gas operations.
He also served as Managing Director of PanAtlantic Oil & Gas EG Ltd and PanAtlantic Corisco Dept where he provided day-to-day operational oversight at both PanAtlantic affiliated companies in Equatorial Guinea. In his role, he was responsible for seeking investors as well as organizing and convening shareholder meetings and technical meetings related to the development of oil blocks K, 8, among others, with the Ministry of Mines, Industry, Energy and other relevant business partners. He led negotiation meetings for new oil and gas production sharing agreements, developed new business opportunities and negotiated new PSE contracts (Contracts between the State and Oil Companies) with the Government of Equatorial Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire and the National Oil Company. In addition, he oversaw corporate social responsibility and local content initiatives in the country.
He worked as Commercial Director of Segesa (National Electricity Company of Equatorial Guinea) and was ITNHGE Project Manager. Prior to his current position, he was Director General of National Content at the Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons and Permanent Secretary of the EITI Preparatory Group in Equatorial Guinea.
